Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
Today, before our slog of a drive to Harrisburg, 6 hours away, we visited the German Village in Columbus. This was after we had posted another postcard back to Marie's dad, who requested them based on the fact that he doesn't have whatsapp, and therefore felt left out. So we thought it fair to send him one regularly, this was the second since we arrived. The German Village was beautiful, the day was lovely as well, 26 degrees, shame we were spending most of it driving. But for the time we were in Columbus, we went to a quaint little pastry kitchen and cafe called Pistacia Vera where I had a lemonade and a lemon tart, and Marie had an apple galette and an ice tea, we sat in the sun and ate the cakes before leaving. We had a look round a book shop that had 32 rooms and over 500,000 books, needless to say we didn't get to see them all. It was a really nice and quiet part of town, and we left after a few hours to get going on our mammoth drive. We arrived in Harrisburg around 9, and went straight to Taco Bell for dinner and got some donuts for afters at the 24 hour donut store, which were outstanding. When we checked in at the Motel, we were greeted by Esther who was really nice, and it seemed we were unexpectedly in Hamish country, judging by the Hamish times free magazine. Regardless, we headed up to the room, watched the Ugly Truth and went to sleep. Tomorrow we set our course for NYC.
