Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
Today, we had the leftover doughnuts for breakfast, the diet is getting worse, before driving into Indianapolis having stayed at a camp about 20 miles East of the city. This meant it was only a short drive to the White River State Park, home to a few museums and a few acres worth of art, all spread out on a park with a canal flowing through the middle. It made for quite the scenery, We parked below the park, for quite a lot cheaper than Shedd aquarium I might add, and walked up to the park. I tried to convince Marie to get a tandem with me to go round the huge park, but she was having none of it, but to be honest, she wasn't feeling well bless her, and she isn't too handy on a bike, so I let her off, I will get her on one, just playing the waiting game. After we had had a walk around the park and the canal we went to find a bar, for some light refreshment. We walked downtown central Indianapolis, and found a little bar called the Colts Grille, where I had a beer and Marie had a cider, the bar lady was really nice. We left our tip and got on the road, our next stop was Columbus, another day, another state. We stopped in a little place called Hayden Falls when we arrived, a naturally formed waterfall that was a real hidden gem, I was really glad I found out about it, it formed a little lagoon at the bottom and looked ideal for swimming, we just weren't allowed. Then from here, we went on to our Motel, which was the first Motel we'd stayed in for days, so it was nice to have a little change, and a bed and shower within a few feet of each other!! We ordered dominos for tea and ate it in the room, which was a real treat, and we didn't arrive at the hotel too late, so we had some time to chill too, which was great. We had breakfast included he following morning too, so the extra price was justified. We watched a bit of TV and got to sleep ready for our biggest drive yet the next day.
