Right so now we are all settled in our little room we went out exploring, we went to the Kowloon Park which is basically a park right in the middle of all the skyscrapers, very surreal, but was a lot to see, flamingos, turtles, birds but also weirdly a Monk who tim befriended the got talking into sponsoring some children (apparently) he then kicked off with Lloyd and Ben for not sponsoring and it sounded like he was putting a curse on us so we gave in, only 50$ (4 quid) though so the children wont get spoilt! There is also a sport area with tennis courts, football pitch and volleyball but they were all full, we well fancied a kick about as well!
Somewhere along the line we found out that it was the Chinese New Year fireworks display at the Avenue of Stars on the water front at 8 in the evening, so that was our next plan!
We left the hostel at about quarter to seven and the were thousands of people walking in the same direction all towards the waterfront, think we underestimated how big of an event this was, it was AMAZING, put it this way we wont ever set foot in Castle Park again. On top of the fireworks there was a light display and the the explosions echoed around all the lit up skyscrapers! Definitely once in a life time!
After fighting our way through the masses, we found an Irish pub called Murphys and watched the second half of Newcastle v Sunderland, then watched Stoke embarrass United wheeeeeeyyyyyyyy! Few beers and tequila slammers later we rolled back into the hostel at 4am for a few hours sleep!
So in the end a successful first day!
