Hong Kong is MENTAL!! People, shops, restaurants, skyscrapers everywhere!..... all crammed in, but surprisingly couldn't find many bars!
First night we had a walk around trying to find our bearings, had a nice traditional Chinese dinner and a fewwww beers!
Our hostel was better than expected and we got upgraded to a private 3 person room with en suite, which was good! The only downfall was that we only booked this place for one night, which is when we started panicking....
The day we arrived was the beginning of Chinese New Year meaning it is the busiest time if year in China and Hong Kong!! We literally searched online and asked about for somewhere to stay.... but everywhere was fully booked from the 1st to the 3rd!!!
We finally found somewhere, however it was a single bed in a single room! This wasn't ideal but we had no choice at the time to just book it anyway.... and thought we would just sneak two of us in and slum it for three nights.
We got the tube to another place (which cost 70 pence) and found our new place, which was on the 11th floor of a tall disgusting building on a busy high street. Lloyd checked in alone and scouted the place, trying to figure out how we could sneak in! .....he came back after an hour and said it was impossible as the room was basically in a flat in which you had to walk past the hostel manager to get to.
All we could think of was to ask the manager to let all 3 of us in and we pay him some extra money.... risky, but it seemed the only option......
Straight away the manager said "Yes I will put you in a bigger room with a double bed and a mattress on the floor so you can all get in" ....the Osama Bin Laden lookalike saved us, and only charged us £30 each extra for three nights!
The room is pretty cosy!.... but is actually really nice and has TV, WiFi, en suite, safe, fridge, cleaned every day etc!
Panic over...... lets celebrate Chinese New Year!
