So Thailand here we are.... first stop Phuket!
Decided to spend 1 night here to break up the travel from Singapore to Ko Phangnan...
Got decent little hotel, and headed out to see what Phuket had to offer...ermmmm that would be neon lights, and go go bars then!
Crazy place to say the least, every corner you turn your dragged into a bar with the poromise of a free shots, or cheap buckets!
And every other corner, shouts of you want suit, or "you want taxi!" Rudith we could make a killing here! ;o)
Well funny place and glad we experienced it for a night, but next morning we were up at 6am to get the first of what will probably be many over the next few months, cramped bus ride over to Surat Thani on the opposite coast of Thailand and get the boat to Ko Phangan. Overall journey time 10 hours! Nice... O and I will never winge about service stations on the M6 EVER again! FACT!
Ko Phangan... what a quality little island! First night we stayed up in the north west of the island in a bay called Hat Yao, beautiful little bay, that night we headed to Had Rin beach to see where the full moon party takes place... and a quiet night, snowballed in to mayhem! Such a good night! Some lads (Ric and Dale) from Manchester who we met on the journey over from Phuket joined the mayhem! Mancs there everywhere man!! Ended being a heavy night on the beach and on the mountain just off the beach and then we ended up have a pool party in the early hours on our return to the digs! Taxi journey back was the scariest and best taxi journey of my life! Roller Coater's at Alton Towers don't even come close! (safe as house's tho Mum - promise!)
Next day we decided that we needed to be a litle closer to the action on the beach as taxi's to and from our digs where long and expensive! So we packed up and moved to the Coral... great little backpackers place on sun set beach, close enough to walk to the parties but not so close that you were stuck in the middle of it all if you didn't want to be! O and they had a pool party everynight. Which is nice! ;o) We ended up staying here for 5 nights in total, met a load of really nice people and had some quality nights out.
Pretty much every night on the beach was a pre party for the full moon, which were all good and pretty relaxed! On the actual full moon night the place was crazy, couldn't move on the beach, boats bringing people in from all the other islands meant the place was rammed!
Al the bars pretty much played the same crap music but on full moon headed to Paradise Bungalows which was pretty much the only bar on the beach not playing Black Eyed Peas (Iceland stag do tune just won't leave me a lone!), and had some propper tunes on! Ben tho decided to walk off into the crowd and not be seen again till the next morning! He was missing the black eyed peas tunes! It was so busy everyone pretty much lost everyone so I just stayed with the tunes and the Samsong Buckets and randomly bumped into people all night. I lasted till just after sun rise before calling it a night... and what a night!
Took everyone a day to recover from the full moon, and people started moving on to next destinations!
A load of us ended up going for a quiet meal on our last night!!! Now I'm not sure what happened, but our last night on the island was probably one our best nights, we did manage the nice civilised meal, but we ended up back on the samsong buckets on the beach and on the mountain again. And I seem to remember jumping one of those skipping ropes that are on fire as well!
Always seems to be the way - hungover moving to a new destination... I wasn't alone tho as everyone from the night before was also heading to the same place as us.
Had such a quality time in Ko Phangan! Next stop Ko Tao to do our PADI open water diving course!
Well looking forward to diving...watch this space!
Take care all...
