Reeeet where did I leave this last... seems like ages ago I put an update on here!
Will try not to bore you to much but will try and bring this upto date.
So we made the flight to Singapore without any hitches... well a little hungover, and slightly delayed, o and the worst turbulance I've ever experienced, but apart from that all good!
Next stop Singapore the Gayner & Wanna residence... quick turn around, threw our bags in and and we're out on the town in Singapore to meet BM, Wanna, Lyd, and Ming (Laura). First stop - food and drinks naturally!! Went to a cool place called CHIJMES loads of bars and resturants! Where I asked for a mild Thai curry and was brought something that even Phat man Phat Trigger would have struggled to eat!
All good tho... plenty of Tiger to cool things down!
After that our host took us over to Clark Quay - massive complex full of bars. So when in Rome... ;o)
Met up with a few of Gayner and Wanna's friends and soaked up all that Singapore had to offer, and Gayners quality raindeer impression!
I think the next day I was still on GMT as I managed sleep for Britain! So spent a relaxing afternoon by the pool. Bliss!!
That evening, Friday evening, Singapore - Grand Prix weekend, 3 days into a 1 year trip, MINT!
Went out to eat at quality little Italian restaurant that Gayner and Wanna know awesome place! We then moved on to a club called Movida, the place kind of looked like battersea power station, but was a great little club with funky tunes and then live Spanish caberet music on with some amazingly fit dancers. ;o) and outside a couple of Ferrari F1 cars were on show. Was a top night, then in normal fashion we then headed back to Gayner and Wanna's to continue the party. I think the photos prove it's a good thing that we all live in separate cities, I don't think I could cope with nights like this every week! We haven't put it up here (yet) but we have a great performance of Gayner and Lyds singing in full Westlifes - I'm flying without wings!! ISSUES!! ;o)
Next day was again chilled by the pool... well when I finally got up that is, I think the heavy nights and jet lag were taking its toll! We all decided to take easy on the Saturday night as the grand prix was the next day, so we headed down to the Hawker centre for some food by the sea, this place is rammed with little food stalls selling pretty much every type of asian food you could imagine, cheap as chips as well. The view looking out to sea was pretty spectacular also, as far as the eye could see was boat after boat after boat queuing up to enter Singapore habour, litterly 100's of them!
After that we went home and watch the Utd game on TV. Mum - you'll be happy to hear I had a dry night, no Alcohol! ;o)
Sunday was Grand Prix night - but during the day Ben and I decided to get out and go see Changi Prison Museum, which a pretty humbling place. The Prison is still in use today and is huge!! But the museum focuses on when Singapore was taken over by the Japanese in WW2, and the prison was turned into POW camp for Allied soliders and Singaporian civilians! Very moving place with a lot of history that I wasn't even really aware of! Well worth a visit!
Ben and I then hot footed to meet the guys at the Grand Prix... have spoken to a few people who said it looked amazing on TV. In person it was awesome, Now its the first time I've been to a GP, and the cars move so bloody quick you hardly get to see them, trying to get a photo was near impossible! The atmosphere tho was quality, the heat was pretty unbearable, and the noise was crazy! Pretty damn good really (Trig you didn't miss a thing honest! ;o))
Straight after the race - Mr John Digweed was playing on one of the open air stages within the GP, so we headed staright over!
Dancing to John Digweed at the GP with the night Singapore skyline as the backdrop! Does it get any better!!
Next day the girls were heading to Bali to relax in the sun for a few days... so we said our goodbyes as Ben and I were also moving on, before they got back. But we hadn't quite planned our onward journey by this point, we needed to book some flights... easier said then done, a brick wall at every turn! We ended up trecking up to the airport and going to the counter. Was a mission - believe! We got it sorted tho - flight booked to Phuket the following day!
That night we were out with Wanna having dinner with him and some friends for his Birthday! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY AHHH KID).
One of the funniest things I've seen - Wanna drinking his Birthday shot! Which was about the size of 3 shots and came witha glass of water to wash it down! No idea what was in it... after this we headed out to Orchard road for some drinks! Which was quality...
Had awesome time in Singapore seeing everyone and the Grand Prix topped it off.
BM, Wanna a big THANK YOU for your hospitality and putting us up.
See you in Oz in December if not sooner! (come join us for a weekend somewhere!!)
Next day we flew out to Phuket - Thailand making our way to the Full Moon Party on Ko Phangan.
I will leave this here as I'm sure I've waffled enough, if your still reading this - Thanks - you clearly don't have enough work to do! ;o)
Hope everyone is well where ever you may be!
Love
Dave - Ravey - Traveler!
