Alreet... another quick update on our progress round South East Asia!
Will try and rap up Thailand here as we've moved on now and this blog is a little behind!
Since the last update, we've been in Ko Tao doing our Open water diving course which was amazing... ended up spending a little longer than expected here as got a bit of man flu and could't dive for a few days! Neee good!
Loved Diving tho and saw some amazing things - did 4 dives in total, including a dive of a ship wreck, loved every minute of it! Defo be doing it again, probably in Borneo when we get there! Or considering popping back and do our advance course if we get chance!
Only problem was my ears haven't equalised back to normal propperly yet!
From Ko Toa we moved on to Railey Beach near Krabi, via a night boat and another bus journey.. the night boat was pretty interesting, it was quuality sitting out on the front of the boat with a fews beers.
Railey was stunning, Limestone cliffs, amazing beach, three beachs really all 10 mins walk from each other, although there was a mental walk between one beach we did that was more like rock climbing than a walk, not a good walk to do when its getting dark, and you've had a beer!
After a few days relaxing in Railey it was time to head to Ko Phi Phi, which is a short boat journey away!
Again amazing place, sure most people know this - Phi Phi is made up of 2 islands Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh, The latter being a national park that you can only visit for the day and where they filmed the film - "The Beach!"
We spent 4 days on Phi Phi... did a half day boat tour, which took in "Monkey Bay" - there wasn't a monkey in sight when we were there... so I'll just be calling it a bay! We then spent some time snorkelling around Phi Phi Leh, and then swam over to Malay beach which was awsome! Picture postcard stuff!
Also took a trip over Long Beach and took the walk up to viewpoint, which had some pretty amzing views of the islands, well worth the 1 hour trek to the top!!
By night Phi phi was mental, rivaled Ko Phangan for sure! Buckets were obviously a feature, and beer towers whilst watching the footie... even managed to find a PS2 and play the latest Pro Evo! MINT!
After such a hard life on Phi Phi, it was time to move to the quiet beach of Ko Lanta.
Here we stayed in a bungaloo on the beach. which was 4km long with hardley anyone on it! Really nice chilled out place... I even managed to get for a jog along the beach one day follwed by a dip in the sea! Propper hard life this I'm telling you!
Next up Kho Sok national park, which is only about 2 hours in land from Ko Lanta...
Only stayed 2 nights here as Visa for Thailand was starting to run out and needed to head north, BUT what a 2 days!
Decided to do some trecking through the national park, so organised a guide for the following day through the hostel.
Next day just the guide (Yuu - legend!), Ben and I set off on a all day treck through the national park. What a day!!
Our guide was well funny and well knew his stuff... he was a cross between Crocidile Dundee and Steve Erwin! I should have been a little concerned when everyone else was starting treks at the gate to the national park, not Yuu he knew a little "side entrance" he drove us about 25 mins away from the entrance pulled up at the side of the road and pointed to little stream coming down a massively steep hillside covered in jungle! Not a path in sight!! That was our starting point!
I've never been so hot in my life - the jungle was well humid, but we struggled on!
After a few hours we arrived at the top of a 100m Waterfall... looked amazing!
Yuu then told us we were walking down the bloody thing! Again - not a path in sight! Well worth it tho got to the bottom and went for a little swim in one of the falls tiers, then continued on walking through the river to hook back up with the normal path... we didn't see anyone for most of the day! Awsome!
From Kho Sok we got the night train up to Bangkok were we spent 2 days getting hasseled for tuk tuks and taken to every other place in the city apart from the place we asked to be taken! I'm sure the city has so much more to see but we had to leave as Visa was running out... next step Cambodia! Will be back in Bangkok before heading to Oz!
Will leave it there for now as I'm sure I've gone on enough!
Take care all - I'll try and get some photos uploaded as soon as I can!
Much love
Ravey
