Hi guys, we spent 4 nights on Ko Phi Phi and 3 nights on Koh Lanta. So here's what we've been up to.
On our first day on Phi Phi we just chilled on the beach and swam in the sea. This island was hit really bad by the Tsunami and there are Tsunami warning signs and escape routes on the beach. There is still lots of rebuilding going on and lots of the bars and restaurants on the beach are basically in big tents. The people here are so happy and friendly, they don't have much but they are just happy to be alive.
The beach near our hotel was really touristy so for the next 2 days we got a longtail boat to another beach which was less crowded. We did loads of swimming in the sea as there was a coral reef with loads of tropical fish so we bought a snorkel set so we could have a proper look at what was around and got really into it!
On the last day on Phi Phi we did a boat trip to see where the film "The Beach" was filmed. We did some sea kayaking which we were suprisingly quite good at and really enjoyed! We also did loads of snorkelling as we visited lots of coral reefs. Throughout our time on the beaches in Thailand we have been feeling like we are getting stung in the sea but thought nothing of it. On the trip we found out what it was that had been stinging us - Jellyfish. Ben saw some little ones while we were snorkelling but didn't tell me as he knew I'd freak out but then I saw a huge one (about the size of a saucer) and shouted jellyfish and swam so fast back to the boat - Ben couldn't keep up and said he'd never seen anyone swim so fast! We then went to Monkey Beach and snorkelled off shark point (but didn't see any sharks!). On the way back to Phi Phi we saw loads of Dolphins which swam right by the boat.
Next stop is Koh Lanta.
