Hey guys, well we've been in mad Bangkok for 3 nights now so thought we'd update you.
The first night we arrived we went to Khao San Road which is a famous Road in Bangkok where all the travellers hang out. Saw loads of hippies dancing round with bare feet in the street and a few lady boys! We actually have one working in the reception of our hostel!! Ate from lots of street stalls, lots of yummy chicken satay! Then we found a nice bar so sat down for a few bevvies and people watched.
The next day we went to the Grand Palace and two temples which were beautiful, so exotic looking and colourful. The temple in the grand palace held the Emerald Buddha and the Wat Pho temple held the giant gold reclining Buddha. Saw lots of Buddhist monks and lots of Buddha statues.
Yesterday we went to the National Museum and then on a long tail boat trip where we saw how people live on the river. Was a bit scary as the guy just took me and Ben on our own! We also saw a huge lizard outside someone's house which was the size of a crocodile!
The best thing about Thailand is the food and drink is so cheap! Our lunch at the museum came to 1.30 (no pound sign on the keyboards over here!) altogether for 2 meals and 4 drinks! We can see why people stay longer here.
In the evenings we have been wondering around the night markets and drinking the cheap beer although last night I was adventurous and tried a cocktail with Thai Whiskey which is really strong, don't worry I'm fine this morning though!
We booked our overnight train tickets down to Krabi yesterday and leave Bangkok tonight. Really looking forward to chilling out on the lovely beaches as we've been rushing around doing so much sightseeing.
