We wanted to take a day to do something adventurous, so one of the excursions we booked was to go off roading. We opted for Rzr vehicles instead of ATVs as we had used those in Costa Rica already, so wanted to try something different. It was a very fun day, but very long and started very early.
It was pretty HOT in Mexico, so even though we had to get up super early to catch the ride up the mountain, I did not figure I needed a jacket because it was very humid and hot and I did not want to carry something around I knew I would not wear. Well, so early in the morning (7am) and riding in this huge open-air bus type thing around town and up the mountain was freaking FREEZING!!!! I was pretty miserable the whole ride to our destination that morning, but luckily once we got up the mountain, it was nice and warm.
We opted to drive Rzrs which are open-air off roading type vehicles which only one of us could drive at a time. We had to wear masks and goggles over our face, not due to COVID protocols, but because it was muddy and dusty like you would not believe! If you check out the album for this post, "Puerto Vallarta, Adventure Day" you will see that our first photos at the waterfall, our faces are all dirty, and that was with the masks on! We only had about 20 mintues at the waterfall, but we glad we opted to jump in since it cleaned us off and felt very refreshing.
To sum up, we got in our vehicle, drove a very windy, rather scary path up and down roads, through mud and over scary-ass bridges to get a waterfall, where we quickly jumped in, took a few pics, got back in the Rzr, drove to a little pit stop for drinks, and quick relaxation time and over yet another long scary bridge to our ending point.
Since we got up so early to get ready and catch the ride to this Canopy River place, we were really hungry by the time we were done, so ordered some food that did not sound like very much, only for it to be served to us, and it was an INSANE amount of food. Don't worry, though we ate almost all of it. Vacation calories don't count, right?
Needless to say, we were not hungry when we got back to the resort which was at lunch time. So we just went to our room to clean up, did a quick swim suit change and headed down to our pool and beach. We met some pretty awesome people that afternoon in the pool who were there together celebarating one of their 40th birthdays. So we drank with them in the pool and hot tub until we got hungry again. We ate dinner at the Mexican restaurant at our resort that evening. This was one of our favorite meals of the trip. Chips and salsa always hit the spot, but the chips and salsa they brought to us while we waited for our food was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
We were very happy to not have to worry about setting an alarm the next day, as our final excursion we booked did not leave until the evening. A sunset boat ride to a different area of PV for dinner and a show. More on that in my next entry.
This was by far our most action packed day, along with the day we ate and drank the most. We slept very well that night. This trip absolutely FLEW by.

Melody The ride sounds like your "cup of tea" - just not mine. : ) I'm a little surprised that you did not bring a light jacket that could have been folded into your bag. It is ALWAYS better to have and not need than to need and not have especially when it comes to jackets. I say this because here where it is so hot, the AC is cranked up in stores, church etc. so I always take a jacket even on 100+ degree days. : ) Glad you had such a different, fun experience. Love ya
