What a great Valentine's Day in town and at our resort!
We didn't really set an alarm or have a goal to be up at any time, but we did make it up in time for breakfast at the buffet. We then walked down to the beach to get a nice closer look as we did not have a chance to do so the day before. We were so happy with our choice of resort. You can see the ocean and hear the waves from one of the pools, and the water was gorgeous.
After eating we cleaned up and met with a representative to arrange getting our covid tests before leaving as well as setting up our ride to the airport. We also booked two excursions, one for the following day, and one for the evening after, both of which we were very excited about.
We then caught a cab to take us to the downtown/boardwalk area. This is where we spent the morning. LOTS of walking, but we enjoyed it very much. The weather was PERFECT, and there was so much to see from awesome statues, to street performers, to vendors, to stores and shops, to colorful buildings and the gorgeous ocean at our side.
We got back to the resort for a late lunch which we enjoyed at one of the casual grills. They made us special Valentine's cocktails and as we did not buy any food while we were downtown, we were very hungry so enjoyed this meal very much. Jaime had some very fancy meat dish with guac, and I had a simple mushroom burger with fries, but it sure hit the spot.
We then changed into our swimsuits to enjoy more drinks in the pool There were several pools at our resort, each leading down closer to the ocean, and although the pool closest to the ocean with the best view was on the colder side (the upper pool was heated) it was our favorite because the view was so gorgeous.
After relaxing in the pool, we went back the room for yet another costume change and enjoyed "first nums" at the rooftop sushi bar. They even had "veg" sushi for me. So that was a lot of fun, but definitely not filling, so as we do on vacation, we went for "second nums" at the buffet.
The resort did such a great job decorating for Valentine's Day, all of the food was themed, including heart shaped dinner rolls, desserts, and red and pink colored pastries. They also had photo ops throughout the resort that were Valentine's themed.
A live band was playing awesome music in the lobby (which was outside) so we enjoyed a little music, dancing, and more drinks before heading back for a late night soak in our balcony jacuzzi. Jaime brought his bluetooth speaker, so we were able to enjoy music and yes, because we were on vacation, we took advantage of our included 24 hour room service and had "third nums" before heading to bed. We had a bright and early pick up time for our excurstion the following day.
Since it had been some time since we were at an all-inclusive resort, I think we would have been happy with really anything, but we were especially impressed with this place. The staff really went above and beyond with celebarations and themes from the Super Bowl to Valentine's Day. The food was great, from the buffet, to the nicer restaurants, to the room service food. And the view from our room was just incredible.
Story of our early morning off-roading excursion and jump into a waterfall in the next post.
