We left Aonang in the early morning, ready for our long bus ouney to Phuket Town. The journey wasn't too bad, despite the German family behind us shouting and whistling for the entire 5 and a half hour journey! But we eventually made it to Phuket Towna and our new hostel, Phuket Backpackers. The hostel itself was really nice but the room wasn't great, it had a very weird smell and there was no bedding at all! We had another storm that night aswell so after a very nutritious pot noodle meal we headed to bed!
The following day was so hot first thing so we had a little look around the city and went to King Rama's park which was really pretty, despite the motorbikes that were allowed to drive through it! By early afternoon it was getting way too hot so we headed back to the hostel for a cold shower, only to find that when we'd finally cooled down another storm had begun! and according to weather forcasts, this was the wasy it was going to be for the rest of our time in Thailand.
Our third day was another hot one, so we headed to Patong Beach. It was very touristy and the beach was covered in sun beds as far as you could see, so it wasnt the nicest but the water was wicked, the waves were huge! We also experienced our first Thai public bus which was interesting! It was a little van with a wood surround and little benches and they dont seem to know what gears are, especially when going up gigantic hills whcih Simon found seriously irritating! It sounded like the thing was going to blow up!
We went to Patong the following day aswell, as it was so hot and Phuket Town got very hot and muggy in the heat. This time we had a go on the jet skis much to Simon's delight! We had it for half an hour and Simon absolutely loved it! I wasn't so sure as all i ahd to hold on to was his life jacket and anyone that knows Simon will know what he'd be liek on a jet ski - plenty of fast, sharp turns and donuts!! It was great fun but i jarred my legs and had difficulty walking for few days but it was wicked!
When we got back from our day at the beach we decided to book our Phi Phi trip, despite the weather forcast and hope for the best. Luckily the weatehr was perfect!
Our first stop was Maya Bay from "The Beach" and it was stunning, despite being destroyed in the tsunami in 2006. We stopped there for half an hour and got to go in the sea which was beautiful, completely clear. We then headed to Loh Samah for some snokelling but after spotting a jellyfish we got scared and got out! We also stopped off at Pileh lagoon and saw the Viking Caves which were a bit creepy. We then had a stop at Monkey Beach and got to feed wild monkeys! We feed them watermelon as apparently they dont like bananas! It was finally lunch time so it was off to Phi Phi Don for a buffet lucnh on the beach which wasnt great but they had nice praen toast! We just ahd time to pick up a couple fo souvineers before heading back to the boat for our final stop, Khai Nok island. It was a tiny island and after some brilliant snorkelling we still had a bit of time left so we decided to see if we could walk around the whole island. It was going well untill the last few meters where we had to climb over some rocks. It really didnt seem like a good idea as we had all our bags and the waves were making the rocks really slippery, but we tried anyways and suprise suprise Simon slipped, followed a few minutes later by me. Simon was ok and we now know that his bag is waterproof! But i managed to cut my foot and hurt my legs even more than they already were form teh jet ski, so not really a good idea after all! That was the end to our Phi Phi trip, it was such an amazing day and one of the best we've had so far!
Our final day in Phuket was spent in Kata. The beach was gorgeous but the waves were huge, definately the biggest we've had so far! Even though they looked fun, the current was so strong taht as one wave hit u and dragged you under, there was an under current dragging you the other way! After not even 5 minutes we were exhausted! Rain started soon after so we headed back to the hostel early as we've got to get up at 6am for our flight to Singapore. Thailand has been amazing but we're really looking forward to seeing another new country!
