Today started with breakfast at our little Florence cafe ... Pastries, little ham and cheese sandwich, the best cappuccino and juice. The coffee is so good we always order two each.
We've decided to be adventurous and find our own way to Pisa by train. The info guide was so helpful so we bought our tickets then went back to see which platform to get to Pisa. Found the yellow validating box but it didn't work. A lovely train guy helped us find one that worked finally and we were on the way.
Met two nice Canadian girls who were going to cinque terre so we gave them heaps of suggestions and showed them out photos.
When we got to Pisa after an hour we went out the wrong exit and got lost. Thankfully an Italian lady on the street told us where to go. The other side of the station to the piazza and catch the red bus.
We got to Pisa and it was awesome, so cool to see how much it's leaning. Did the touristy photo holding it up, bought some souvenirs and a new suitcase coz we have bought too much stuff! Had more gelato and stopped for pizza for lunch near the train station after getting a taxi back.
Was a fun unexpected day. I like that.
Time for another cappuccino at our fave cafe then looking at the shops. My favorite sign is Saldi 50 - means sale 50% off. Love it!
Now back to Florence for a little more shopping, a siesta and dinner at mamma mias.
We wandered thru the streets and we finally found the restaurant. Were so proud of ourselves. Had the most amazing dinner. First course bruschetta caprese, then I had pasta with black truffle oil and mum had pasta with lobster, which came with half a lobster on the plate. Both were so delicious we had to soak up all the juices with our bread. Washed down with a glass of perscolli (Italian style champagne). Love it. was serenaded at the table with guitar and clarinet. How cool!
Walking back to the hotel all the market places turned into sidewalk restaurants and musicians/artists. The guy painted the mona Lisa in chalk on the roadway was so talented. It's so different and dreamy at night.
