Day 9:
The flight to Italy was interested. We left the cruise boat at 7am and was met by Babis, our taxi driver at 8am, who took us on a tour of Athens. First stop was the acropolis, which was amazing. Completely made from marble, even the stairs were marble and very slippery. The Parthenon was at the same location. It was just amazing, so large and imposing at the top of acropolis hill. also interesting to hear the stories of the Greek gods.
Then we drove past the columns if Zeus, and the old and new Olympic stadiums then to the airport.
Our flight was delayed by an hour and the boarding room was changed. It was so confusing because there was no flight info. Eventually we boarded and then got to Rome in time for our connecting flight to Florence. Heaps of turbulence and wind at Florence airport we nearly got redirected to Pisa but it was ok and we disembarked in Florence as planned and got a taxi to our b&b.
It was so beautiful ... A really large room with cute shabby chic furniture, a big balcony and French doors with a sliding shutters. Only a few mins walk into the city. Our host Ceasar was so helpful and cute. The elevator was so tiny he could only fit in one suitcase at a time so he would run up the stairs and get it out then run back down for the next suitcase.
After we settled in he bought us a surprise - a nice bowl of fruit and biscuits and a very strange (horrible) tasting drink. We dont know what it's called but it tasted a bit like beer.
So tired by know so we didn't go out.
