Having to catch an early train from Paris we arrived in Interlaken around 2pm. With Sky Diving booked the following afternoon (for both of us now!) we realised we only had this afternoon and the following morning to do anything which meant we couldn't go up Jungfrau as that is a whole day Oh well! Instead we headed straight up to trummelbach falls. We had been told that it was 6 glacier waterfalls and not really knowing what to expect we thought we'd just see water pouring down a cliff face... but it was so much better. You walked through tunnels in the mountain that brought you right up and into the falls and the power and force of the water was just amazing! It was starting to storm when we were there which made it even better.
Switzerland would have to be our favourite country so far. It is nice and relaxing and the people are very easy going.
Before we knew it it was time to get picked up for our skydiving. After a false start - we got picked up by the wrong company, before we got in we asked if it was for skydiving as we didn't recognise the company name but thought they might all work together anyway, but 10min into the drive the driver said he'll be our rafting intstructor today... but we're going skydiving... oh, he said, you we're serious when you said that... oops! Thankfully by the time he dropped us back we hadn't missed our real pickup and we were on our way.
After a quick briefing, we put on our jumpsuits and headed for the helicopter. With very little room in a helicopter Kane was practically hanging out the door. The ride up was great, we got a fantastic view of the alps and within no time we had reached our altitude of 14000ft. Since Kane was at the door he went first with his instructor and it wasn't until I saw them suddenly drop off the edge that it dawned on me just what I was doing! Then it was our turn and I had to edge my way to the side of the chopper while attached to the instructor and was told to stand on the bottom rail outside. Suddenly, I am standing completely outside the chopper with nothing to hang onto and its a long way down. With a "You ready?" we were suddenly falling through the sky, going head over tail in a horrible tumble until we flattened out into a free fall which felt great. Eventually the cord got pulled and with a sharp jerk our parachute opened... Phew! But it wasn't over yet. Wanting to give me a great experience my instructor decides to do some spins, and handed me the reigns to control the parachute... oh god! He was soon informed that the spins really weren't necessary! And with a more peaceful descent we eventually landed to my relief. I did it but not again, no thanks
In short, Interlaken has been really good. We'd love to spend more time here as there is alot to do but we head back to Zurich tomorrow then Egypt.
