Leaving Munich another 4 hour train trip brought us to Vienna. With so many sights to see we hit the ground running and headed straight for the Schonbrunn Palace. The size of the palace and its gardens was overwhelming and left us wondering what they ever did with so much space. To see it in all its entirety would take at least a full day but we crammed what we could into 2 hours then headed for the nearest pub.
The next day we put our walking shoes on and planned for a long day exploring the many buildings, castles, churches and museums that are in the centre of Vienna. We started at the State Opera House with a quick guided tour since it isn't open in summer for performances unfortunately. We moved on to the Hofburg palace for another tour then walked our way past the National History Museum, Parliment House and St Stephens Cathedral to name a just a few. 7 hours later we could say we had accomplished it all and after completing this journal we shall happily retire to the pub for another beer and more schnitzel!
In short Vienna was very beautiful with a sight to see around every corner. The service people we came across were not so nice but so what, at the end of the day the sights, beer and schnitzel is all good.
