After a surprisingly easy 12 hour overnight flight to Hong Kong we finally arrive and use the train to take us to Kowloon where we are staying. Having looked at a street map we decided to walk from Kowloon station - what looked like 4 blocks - rather than change trains 3 times to get to the nearest metro stop to our hotel... easier said than done! Luckily there were quite a few very friendly people who helped us navigate the pedestrian the overhead and underground pedestrian walkways needed to do simple things like crossing a road! About 9 blocks later we finally reached our hotel, hot and sweaty from the 33 degree heat and extremely high humidity.
Since it was the end of our trip we had decided to live it up accomodation wise so we booked the "Premium level" not really knowing what it was but figured it must have been good. But it turned out to be better than that. After 8 weeks of hostels the room is heaven, and we are being looked after like royalty. Being on this "Premium Floor" you have your own private staff and lounge where you there is basically free food all day but most importantly.... free cocktails and drinks between 5 and 8.30.... oh yeah!!! Sorry, hope we're not making you jealous !
So far Hong Kong has been great. We're in Kowloon which has all the markets and we have done our fair share of shopping already, still not quite sure how we're going to get it all home though. We've taken a trip on the ferry over to Hong Kong Island and went up Vicotria Peak but we much prefer Kowloon... its more atmospheric!
As our trip is almost over we're now just going to enjoy living it up here. We've had a great time but are really looking forward to coming home and catching up with everyone. So its goodbye from us from here and we'll be seeing you real soon!
