Day 6
After our posh breakfast at a posh hotel we set off to Venice. We got the train from Venice Mestre which took ten minutes and we were in Venice, it was extremely hot. We soaked in the views and walked to the Rialto passing a rather cheap Italian restaurant and supermarket where a 1.5 litre bottle of water was 24 cents!!! The views from the Rialto were outstanding, and the market and shops in the centre of the bridge were nice. However when we tried to find a T-shirt for Ruby they didn't have her size. Then at St.Marks square we were greeted by amazing sights. We were going to go up a tower but the queue was massive. So we then became real tourists...we bought a selfie stick. After a series of selfies we decided to get lunch at that Italian place, so an hour later we arrived. We sat down and both ordered the special menu which was a meal and a drink for €10 so we ate and then played the guess the bill game. We both guessed at €20 the bill came and it was €24. We queried it and he said it was a service charge there was no mention of it apart from on the back page of a menu that we did not even look at, in writing I couldn't read. After arguing the man said we had parmesan cheese so that's why we had to pay, but he bought that to us and we did not want it. So Daddy put €20 on the table and we walked off. He started shouting naughty words at us and that was that. After that affair we bought a drink and went and sat by the canal to drink them. I then had apparently the best ice cream in Venice. (I have to say I didn't have any other ice cream in Venice but it probably was the best.) We got on a train and went back to the car and drove to our hotel. We had German food in Italy?!?!?! I then planned the route for tomorrow on the hotel computers. We booked a hotel and went to bed.
