It was rainy, windy and chilly when we got up, but we didn't let that stop us from going on a nature walk at a place called Lizard's Point. It's the southernmost part of Cornwall, high up above the water. They only give the guided walk every Wednesday, so this was our only chance to do it.
I was bundled up in my long sleeved shirt and jacket, with earmuffs and scarf--it wasn't really all that cold, but the wind was howling and it was drizzling--not ideal hiking conditions! The walk lasted about an hour, and we learned about all kinds of plants and wildlife. I even spotted a seal in the water, plus a large old pirate-looking ship offshore; they had to be crazy to be out on that water in those conditions!
We left the point and drove into Helston, found a large grocery store, reminded us of Walmart. Did some shopping and then went to the movies. We saw Dunkirk, most fitting since we are in England.
There was a restaurant just around the corner that we'd seen on the way to the theater that was advertising cold margaritas, so we walked over and got a table. Turned out that the owner was originally from San Antonio and had based her menu on a lot of Texas food! I had a most delicious pulled pork barbecue sandwich and Rich got a spicy sausage chili hot dog. We chatted with her quite a bit, fun to meet someone from the Homeland!
