Retired & Traveling
Rich and I headed out early for Bush airport and could barely see due to the fog. We both wondered if our flight would be delayed because of it, but it turned out to be just fine. We've decided that Sunday mornings are the time to travel as the airport was almost empty! We breezed through checking our bags, security and before we knew it, we were boarding. The flight to Miami was uneventful, always the best kind. Once we arrived, we claimed our bags,(always a thrill seeing my suitcase come out on the conveyor belt!), and headed for the Thrify car rental counter. This was QUITE a walk away--several people movers, an elevator ride and a tram dropped us at the rental car area. We got our car fairly quickly and were on our way to our hotel. We had booked our hotel through Kateva's company and chose it based on price. It's expensive to stay in Miami! It is a retro style place, very Art Deco, which is typically what the architecture is in Miami Beach. Once we arrived, we checked in and thought we might watch a little football--however, the tv had been set up to speak Spanish and it took a bit of doing to figure out how to change it to English, but we finally managed it. We had been comped a drink at the pool bar, so we went down to enjoy it. After finishing our drinks, we took off for North Beach. It was an overcast day and VERY windy--there were numerous wind surfers out and they were zooming around. We had dinner reservations for 6:00, so we left and made our way to the restaurant. We got seated outside right on the water and enjoyed the ambience. The wind was still howling, but there were wind shields in place, so it was very nice. The food was great and we had a good time. I'm still battling my abscessed tooth--the new antibiotics I started on Saturday evening seem to be working better, but made me feel woozy. We headed back to our room and watched some Sunday night football before lights out. Hoping I feel better tomorrow, we have a full day planned!
