Retired & Traveling
After much debate, we decided we couldn't visit the Tuscany area and not go see the famous Michelangelo statue, David. Since it was our last day, we got the 7:15 train to Florence and found the museum. We got in line to buy tickets and had about a 45 minute wait--which wasn't too bad considering how long the lines get later in the day. The time passed by quickly due to the fact we were next to a young couple from Texas who has traveled all over the world. They were a lot of fun to chat with and we were inside the museum before we knew it. I have to say that as museums go, it was a bit of a letdown. Lots of 15th century paintings and the statue of David...a few unfinished pieces by Michelangelo...some plaster casts in another room, ancient musical instruments--that's about it. When we were finished touring, I looked at Rich and asked, "Are we done??" Apparently we had seen all there was to see.
