Retired & Traveling
Can I just tell y'all how much I LOVE room service that's free (or as Rich would say, no additional charge)?!? Nothing like coffee, juice & whatever your heart desires delivered to your room whenever you want it to be enjoyed while sitting on your balcony watching the sun come up. We docked into Naples at 7:00 a.m. on the dot & it was another picture perfect weather day. Rich & I decided to do the Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour of Naples, while Brian & Teena went off on their own to visit Herculaneum (sp?). We didn't see a whole lot that impressed us other than some beautiful villas perched on the side of the hills overlooking the sea. And the traffic is HORRENDOUS!!! I would NEVER want to drive here and was glad we were in a huge tour bus. LOL
Once we finished our tour of the city, Rich & I headed back to the ship & had a late lunch. We had heard that the pizza onboard our ship was really worth trying, so we had that--it's delicious! Better than any of the places we tried while in Rome. It's very different than American pizza though...all super thin crust with scant toppings. I had ordered olives on my side of our pizza once & out it came with 4 small whole green olives grouped together in a small pile. Too funny.
Brian & Teena made it back in time to enjoy cocktails out on our balcony, then we all got freshened up & had dinner in one of the main dining rooms. Our waiter was from Hungary & was very entertaining. He's only been with Princess for 2 days but acted like he was an authority on everything & had us cracking up. For a ship that's got 3,100 passengers, it's amazing how uncrowded it feels--there was only 1 other table on our side of the restaurant until right before we left, which was about 8:30. (That comment was for my kids who think we are blue hairs & eat too early.) We went to the Princess Theater for one of the shows, which was a comedian/magician....nothing to write home about but gave us a few chuckles. Rich & Brian checked out the casino, which they said was practically deserted....although they allow smoking in there & most of the ship is non-smoking, so maybe that has something to do with it (lack of a crowd). Friday night is a smoke-free night, so they plan to do some gambling...wish them luck!
No seasickness yet....no plans to diet yet....enjoying everything!
