Retired & Traveling
5:00 am came very quickly this morning...I think both of us have enjoyed every minute but we're looking forward to sleeping in our own beds.
Jeanne has been a wonderful hostess and so sweet to share her living space with us. I forgot to mention that she took us by her school last night and we got to go inside--very cool!
Our shuttle was waiting for us when we walked out this morning which was so awesome, since it was quite cold. We only had to pick up one other group of three and then we were on our way to the airport.
We went to a kiosk to print our boarding passes and Marcy's machine messed up, so we had to get the attention of an attendant to help us. She then told us that we had to check our carryon bag!! Arghh, so aggravated!! Fortunately, the line to check luggage wasn't long at all and we were also able to change our seats to a row of 3 with nobody between us. Makes a long flight a little more tolerable.
We boarded the plane right on time and it was hotter than a firecracker inside! We were shedding coats and clothing as fast as possible and still panting. As I write this, they have finally turned on the air and turned off the heater. Whew!! We just might make it after all!
They fed us a meal not long after we took off, which was ok but not all that great. We should have stockpiled food because they did not feed us again until about 8 hours later...and we were both pretty darned hungry by then! I wasn't very impressed with the Air France service, would only choose to fly them again if I had to in order to avoid a connection.
When we arrived in Houston, I breezed through customs due to my Global Entry and went to get the car from remote parking while Marcy got our bags...this worked out in spite of the nasty French flight attendant!
Such a fabulous trip...thank you, Rich, for letting me do this--love you! And thanks to Mark for encouraging Marcy to go with me--what an amazing trip this has been!!

Barbie I so enjoyed reading about your adventure! It sparked memories of my trip so many years ago and makes me want to go again! Thanks for the review! You took some beautiful pictures too! Almost any picture of the Eiffel Tower is beautiful in my book! Loved the stained glass! I can't believe you checked out and missed the can-can though! I guess you'll have to go back some day! ;)
