Retired & Traveling
Kathi & I woke up early, as usual, and had coffee and got ready for the day. After Kateva woke up, we walked over to a cute restaurant, Deli Lane, for breakfast. Everything is very conveniently located near her apt...CVS, restaurants, etc. Definitely fun for urban living!
It was a pretty day but very windy...which made it a bit on the chilly side. We have seen some very unique looking trees and wish we were more knowledgeable about what they are--Kathi took our picture in front of one of them--see the photo. We enjoyed walking around the Brickell area where Kateva lives--lots of beautiful scenery and tons of skyscrapers!
Our excitement level had been building all morning and it was finally time to leave. Kateva dropped us off at the Princess terminal and we got in line to check in. We had a bit of a wait and found out later that they had a computer malfunction which delayed them processing us.
We eventually made it onto the ship and found our room, A511. We were both about to starve by this time, so we grabbed an elevator and headed to the 16th deck for lunch.
After refueling, we went back to our room to get our life jackets for muster. The nice part of this was we got to sit in one of the theaters instead of stand the whole time.
Our suitcases had arrived by the time we returned to our room to put up our life jackets, so we quickly unpacked and watched as we sailed away from Ft. Lauderdale. We were going to try to watch the Super Bowl game on the big screen outside, but it was too cold/windy and most of the chairs were already taken anyway! We decided to eat instead :)) and after a quick change of clothes, we went to the dining room. I had salmon, Kathi had some pork dish and both were quite tasty!
We found a lounge where the game was on and made it just in time to snag some seats and watch the half time performance. Katy Perry did a great job judging by the reaction of the crowd watching (and we agreed!) We found out that the game was being broadcast to us via ESPN and they weren't showing the commercials that NBC was showing, so we didn't stay for the rest of the game.
My legs were swelling again, so we went to our room. This ship has movies on demand in each room, so we watched Before I go to Sleep--was very good!
Toni, we miss you and wish you were here!!
