Woke up this morning by the sound of Sheryl Crow squaking outside my window (sounded like free willy). Jan and Allen had packed us up with a lunch for the day which was awesome of them. Due to injuries we are now relaying to Albany. The first part from Balingup I tackled on my own. Walked along a sheep farm and spotted the sheep running and jumping. Looked a little harder and saw 2 wild dogs working together bringing a sheep down. They had it either side of the neck, I didn't stick around. Kinda spooky walking on our own, saw lots of wild parrots flying above, also plenty of red tailed black cockatoos. Started climbing the incline leading to Hay Road. Got to the top and crossed the train line to be met by a diversion. I had no signal to make a call to Steve and Hugh because where they were meeting me I couldn't get to. Got to a cross roads and managed a signal to make a call. Stocked up with food and water then carried on this time with Steve. Hugh met us at most access points leading in to Donnelly River.
Now here's a story. What the F*** is this place??? Talk about the movie Wrong Turn... Stopped at the General Store which is also the restaurant, gift shop, post office and reception. Spoke to the guy who bought the whole town, he explained he is the only living in resident. Rob told us we are sleeping tonight in the old school. Literally came down the road getting chased by the Emus (people who know me well, will laugh at this) plenty of friendly Kangaroos, one came right up to us and stood up straight, her little Joey popped their head out the pouch. Got to the old school and we are in bunks literally with the class room next door. This place has already gave me the creeps massively.
Got up to make a drink and went in to one of the class rooms (weird I know). Met 3 more people doing the Bibbulmun (Carlier, Hayley & Luke) then a French couple biking the Mundi Biddi Trail (can't remember their names). We've all had a right laugh mostly at Luke because he drank a full bottle of Whiskey and kept asking everyone are we going North or South... Ended the night on high spirits, well needed!!!
