Yesterday we were in the car park about to get in the Mustang when we realised that a whale watching boat was stopped right in front of us. The next thing we knew, two massive whales surfaced right near the shore directly in front of us, we couldn't believe how close to the shore they were they must have been almost scraping their bellies on the rocks. We headed to a nearby beach and rented a couple of stand up paddle boards. They were massive and heavy and really difficult to carry down to the water but once we got them in it was good fun. We spent an hour and a half cruising around exploring the reef and trying to catch little waves. The paddling was quite easy as the boards are really stable but it was tricky trying to paddle fast enough to catch a wave and even trickier to stay on once you are on the wave. After a couple of hours we had to return the boards and headed up to Lahaina for lunch to a place that was meant to have Maui's best burgers which were pretty tasty. After lunch we wandered around the shops and ended up buying a new little camera as the "waterproof" one we took snorkeling turned out to be not so waterproof! We took a drive north to Honolua Bay while the camera was charging and wow what a beautiful place. The surfers were riding the waves out on the point and the water in near the shore was an amazing turquoise color. Once the camera was ready we went back to Napili to get some shots of the sea turtles. We snorkeled with them for about an hour and took some videos of them swimming around, then started to get a bit cold, and wished we could have jumped in the hot tub like the previous day! We then headed back south to Kihei and watched the sunset from the lawn in front of our hotel. We saw a couple of sea turtles right near the shore mating in the waves they were rolling around all over the place and tons of people were watching and photographing them, someone mentioned it was turtle porn! We hung out for a while then had a late dinner at the sushi bar at our hotel which was delicious. As it was happy hour we had a few drinks then crashed.
