Today was another amazing day of marine life spotting. We got up and went for a walk and had yet another average coffee, only thing in looking forward to back in Melbourne is a good coffee! We watched a snorkeling trip come back from a trip where the ambulance had met then and were giving someone CPR in the back of the ambulance which was pretty awful for all the people on the trip. We met up with Rod and Gill at our hotel and walked back to the boat ramp to jump on our whale watching your boat. The boat was really just an RD so it was a pretty bumpy wet ride which was quite fun. We drove around for quite a while looking for whales then finally found three all together, a mother, father and baby. We floated around watching the incredible whales, and just when Jamie put his camera away and we thought the trip was over, the whales came right towards our boat and the massive male whale swam right up to the boat and under it! It was so massive, the captain said the tail was about 15 feet wide, and the whale was probably about 14 meters or over 40 feet long, it was unbelievable. We headed back to shore and grabbed some lunch then stopped at a snorkeling spot up near Rod and Gills place. We snorkeled the shallow reef for quite a while, the water was fairly warm. As we got deeper we discovered two monk seals lounging around under a coral overhang, but when they saw us they swam around and up to the surface for a little while, then went back to their lounging spot lazy creatures! After we got our fill of seal watching and also saw the biggest pipe fish I had seen yet, we dried off and headed further north to Napili beach where we found more sea turtles right near the shore so we played in the surf with then for a little while. Jamie and Rod then grabbed some boogie boards and caught some breaking waves and when they had had enough we climbed into the hot tub and thawed out. We then said a second farewell to Rod and Gill after a really fun time with them and stopped at the Maui brewery to taste a beer on our way back to our hotel. We had showers and walked over to the local Mexican restaurant for dinner then walked back and crashed. Lots of great animal sightings today!
