Today we went for a little run along the foreshore before going back to the sourdough bakery for bread and butter for brekky. We then took an hour long boat tour of the bay around Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate which was fun. After that we jumped on the old cable car and rode it all the way to downtown. Jamie jumped off at a red light to take a photo and got told off by the driver! We wandered around the city and did a self guided walking tour around Chinatown where we found the golden gate fortune cookie factory and a chicken shop where you could choose your live chicken and get it slaughtered on request. Next we walked to the ferry building where there was a pretty good farmers market and inside lots of gourmet shops selling mushrooms, cheeses, preserved meats, bread etc. delicious! Outside the ferry building there was a large crown gathered along the street so we joined in, and saw a huge police motorcade and then President Obama! We had some oysters and beer inside at Hog Island Oyster Company where we sat at the bar and watched a guy shuck hundreds of oysters, yummo. Next we walked to thirsty bear brewery where we sampled ten different beers, and only really liked one of them. We played some pool for a while then walked back to the ferry building and caught a streetcar back to our hotel. After cleaning up a bit we headed to north shore for dinner at an Italian place where we had mussels and procuitto pizza and some local wine that gave me a nasty headache the next morning, probably didn't help that the beer we were drinking earlier was 7% alcohol! After dinner we went to Safeway and stocked up on treats like twinkies and cookies then went to bed.
