Great first day in SF, after checking in we drove over to the Golden Gate Bridge whee there is a big park area and lots of people walking dogs and hanging out. We then drove to Lombard St which is famous for being the worlds most crooked street (it winds back and forth like a snake) and the chucked our car in a long term parking lot. Some of the roads are so steep you can't see the road in front of you as you drive over the top a bit like a roller coaster it's incredible, I don't know how people walk and ride around or even drive a manual car on them! After Lombard St we walked to Fisherman's Wharf which is quite close to our hotel and is very gaudy touristy with restaurants and shops and lots of people. We went to a massive sourdough bakery and had our clam chowder in bread bowl and it was everything I expected and delicious. We tried some local beers; anchor steam ale and fat tire ale which were both pretty good. We saw bubba gump shrimp co. at pier 39 and saw a big group of massive sea lions lounging around on pontoons in the bay, they were so fat and made these hilarious honking sounds. We headed back to our hotel to get some warmer clothes as once the sun goes down it gets pretty cold and walked to chinatown via north shore which is also called little Italy. We stopped at a little cafe for a drink then found nico's tacos where we had awesome fish taco and beef burrito all washed down with another local Californian beer Sierra Nevada. Pretty exhausted by this stage so we wandered back to the hotel and crashed.
