The bestest travel journal ever :)
Hervey Bay and Fraser Island:
It was a 1 hour journay from Brisbane to Hervey bay and we were so sad to go because we had sooo much fun in Brissy. And when we got to out hostel in Hevery Bay and it was a caravan park - we were like "Uh oh". So we were very sceptical as we saw a tonne of broken and smashed up 4x4 as well. In the orientation that morning we were also scared by liots of 'dont do this or you will be killed stories'. And the idea of Rishi driving a jeep filled with 11 people is scary enough....
The people in the group were wicked - we had two jeeps worth of people. Two scouser girls (Kate and Louise I think) were great, they were sisters and they were fighting all the time like me and rishi. Then they was a brazilian girl gaul Paula and a Swiss girl called Andi - who were also wicked. We then had 3 really dull and boring german guys - who ate all the food and didn't help out at all.
The island itself was wicked, the first couple of hours was driving over the most rocky terrain but it was wicked as we were all being flung left, right and centre. we then went to Lake Mckenzie (the msot wicked lake ever - the water was so clear you could see everything in it. And the sand was pure white - I have never seen a more beautiful place. The sand was so soft its actually sold as a natural exfoliater - so i knicked some in a water bottle.) We then drove up the coastline and camped in this park at night - I didnt like sleeping on the floor so I slept I went in the middle of the night and slept in the truck which was so much better.
The next day we had to wake up really early and then go up the coastline to see this place called the champagne rocks (because when the water hits them it cascades over like champagned bubbles apparently). This was a bit broing as we got stuck there for 3 hours because it was huight tide (the entire driving at this point was actually on the beach which is a registered highway). We then went and camped on the beach which was wicked (and i actually slept in the tent this night). We had a fire outside and marshmellows and we cooked PAsta on the beach - was wicked.
we played lots of games on the trip, like the " I went to the shopping mall and brought a...", "I have never..." and so on... was so much fun.
Three football hooligan guys who we tried to avoid in Byron Bay were in the other jeep but they actually turned out to be really nice when we all shared the same camp that night.
the next day we went to Lake Wabbi - it was famous for being a bright green lake (coloured from the tea tree oil in the nearby trees). This was meant to me a natural cleaner in the water - so we went there to swim. It was a two hour hike there and back, and by the time we got there it burst out raining - but it was still cool.
We then rushed to get back to the ferry - 11 people fighting over the best way to go (I was right of course).
So we left in one piece - and Rishi didn't crash the jeep at all!
That night we all stayed up in the hostel (got moved into better rooms that weren't in a caravan) and it was well fun.
