Brisbane: F*^&^&ing fantastic! Most random experience ever!
Came to Brisbane on my birthday - was so hyped up as we had been in boring Byron Bay for a couple of days - Rishi and I had been dying to re-enter civilisation so we cut of byron bay stay chort. Stayed at the Bunk backpackers hostel in the Valley - very nice hostel. once we'd got checked in and met the Swedish people who dominated our room - we went out to this wicked club called the Family as it was my birthday! It was wicked - was just like Fabric back home but better music.
*** Oz has best music - you have to listen and download the following.
1) Rogue traders - Voodoo Child
2) Rogue traders - Watching me, Watching you
3) Flaunt it - TV ROCK F
4) Love fedration
5) Never say Never *******
Anyways back to the story - we left theclub right at the end having danced all night - and Rishi got this huge pizza for only $10 which we ate on the way back to the hostel.
Was a wicked birthday - we had tonnes of fun and was v memorable - though ni did miss everyone back home (well for a bit of the time atleast!).
Monday was great - I decided to let Bhabi Ji and Bhaba Jan treat me to tonnes of shopping - so Rishi and I went shopping down Queens St in Brisbane. This was fantastic as clothes are v cheap there - I brought tonnes. Me and rishi even ended up fighting over this belt we saw in Fossil which we both like - but I got it as I used emotional blackmail as it was my birthday.
Everyone in Brisbane is really nice - you go to get a coffee and the person will ta\lk to you for an hour etc - really refreshing after coming from London where you'd get told to F off if you start randomly chatting to people.
ON Tuesday night I entered a DJ competition - you just had to pick 7 songs and DJ them and the amount of cheers you got decided the winner. I chose:
Oasis - Don't Look back in Anger (people hated it)
Galvanize - Chemical Brothers (Success)
Take me Out, Franz Ferdinand (OK)
Sugababes, Push the Button (Great)
Golddiger (They hated it)
and a couple more which I forgot.
While this was happening we made friends with two of the craziest but funniest people I've ever met - Sasha and Brook. They had broken up recently so was a bit awkward - but they wanted to use my Ipod to DJ. Me and Sasha went up for a second time and played really random songs and started dancing on the bar while Rishi and Brook were hanging their heads down out of embarassment.
Went out with Sasha and Brook to the Press club - was great (because they were such a laugh) - but the club as awful - Brisbane is dead during the week. After they left we met another weird couple - Nick and Taly - they were an equally strange pair - she was gorgeous but using all of his money and he was constantly having to look after her.
The following night me and Rishi went out around the hostel to The Wickham Hotel - it was such a laugh met some really strange people (happened a lot in Brisbane) - Kelly and Craig. Rishi left to go home but I went with them to The Beat - which was empty but great music. Met a girl called Tasha who was in the middle of fighting and making up with her ex-boyfriend who may be coming to visit London soon.
The following night - Sasha had invited us to go to her house, where I had offered to cook dinner for her and her family (her uncle Annatoli and grandad) and some friends who came over (Eli and a couple of others whose names I've forgot). It was a wicked night - i cooked kebabs and Chuna Chart for starters and Chicken Salan and Dahl for main course and Annatoli made home made naans which were amazing. Afterwards - Rishi, me andf the girls went back to the valley and to the hostel where we hung out.
Friday - we met these two really cool girls in our dorm - Janine and Emma. They were well cool and from London - had a greta time with them. We complained about not having AC that night so we got upgraded to a luxury apartment - wooden floors, our own tv and kitchen and bathroom and leather sofas. It was St Patricks day so we went out for a bit back to the Beat - met a couple of people but was a bit of a lame night. (Met one cool guy- Chris I think his name was).
On Saturday went to the Local Markets with Rishi and the Girls - was cool we had to stop buying lots of clothes. We were all really gutted about giving up the amaing apartment and having to move back into small tiny dowm again. The day was very cool and we went out that night again (we maxed up on clubbing in Brissy as there wasnt going to be any more for weeks up north). During this time I bumoed into a woman called Angela who gave me directions because I was lost - she was very friendly and invited Rishi and Me to a party she was throwing. We went that night - she cooked amazing food (Fish Pie - yummy) - it was so random though it was all her friends from Art School so they were a lot older than us. We went out after which was cool and met this cool guy called Simon.
On Sunday we decided to chill out by the pool where we spent most of the day - was wicked! Met so many people - and me and Janine took the duck on a tour and got pictures of tonnes of randoms. Was a great day - also got to meet our new roomate Astric. The five of us went out that night (our last night) back to Family which was fun but dead compared to the previous week - though we still went around doing stupid things and taking stupid pictures (As you can see in the photo album).
All in all - Brisbane was greta fun filled with random encounters with real australians (as opposed to Swedish and English backpackers whom we see elsewhere).
