We took it easy this morning, enjoying our cliff top ocean location until after 11am and then we headed into the nearby twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison. We checked out the visitor centre and drove around the quaint little seaside towns, checking out the small marina, board walk and local surf beaches. There was a nice looking cafe right on the beach which, unfortunately, was closing as it looked a good place to while away the afternoon. Instead, we found an ocean view to enjoy a homemade lunch of roasted chicken wraps and then we continued driving a little further south to Cliff Head North where we planned to spend the night. We arrived by 2.30pm, picked a plum location directly on the water's edge and spent the afternoon enjoying the calm seas not two feet away from us.
We enjoyed chatting to a number of other caravanners and then Gadi and Cadbury went for a run on the beach and I decided to bake a chocolate cake.
Most impressive tonight was one of the most stunning sunsets we've seen in the whole four months we've been away. So what makes a spectacular sunset? In our opinion it has to do with the cloud cover and the layering of the clouds so that the colours of the sunset can peek out from between the cloud cover. Anyway, tonight's sunset was breathtaking, with deep reds, oranges and pinks competing in the darkening sky. All the campers with us tonight (all with camera and phones in hand) are in agreement that this was as good a sunset as they get.
On that note we are heading inside to eat our BBQ dinner and settle down with TV reception to watch ABC.
Good night xx
