But either internet connections have been dodgy or non-existent, or I was simply too lazy (crazy how quickly you get used to NOT writing anything at all!) to type it up. Somehow a bottle of Bintang seems to sneak into all of our favourite pictures - but beer is not the only reason Morten looks so satisfied! We had a great day with a dive in the morning and saw lots of enormous sea turtles, then had a cheap lunch of fresh grilled fish with a nice new acquaintance - Tess from Utrecht - and ended up having home-roasted coffee at a local fisherman's home. That's a full day on the island - and tomorrow we're going fishing!

After finishing our Open Water Diver course, nothing could keep us in - rather boring - Padangbai. We wanted to see some paradise islands (completely without motorized traffic!) and left Bali by speed boat to head to the Gilis. For two days we've been hanging on Gili Air, recuperating from all the hard diving class work :) It's pretty basic here, with flocks of chicken and skinny cows sharing the dirt roads with us, but the food in the local warang is yummie and the snorkeling is amazing! We went out for an hour yesterday and immediately saw the first giant turtle, just mucking about. And of course hundreds of colourful fish everywhere on the reef - quite the spectacle, really!
