Camooweal, a quick overnight stop and back in Queensland.

Arrived Darwin area Wednesday and proceeded to Leon's ( Annette's brother) who lives at Corroboree which is about 90 klms south east of Darwin. Spent the first day just relaxing and catching up with the latest family news. On Thursday Leon took us up to Corroboree billabong and launched his boat in the water( 16 ft long with a 40 horse power Suzuki outboard which is good for croc spotting cause you can move away pretty quickly if they decide to investigate you)...

Kununurra was established to service the Ord River Irrigation scheme in 1960. It has a population of approximately 6000. There is quite a lot to do here but we chose to go and explore Lake Argyle. It certainly is an impressive sight, holding more water than Sydney Harbour. (cop that Sydney). Fitzroy Crossing was settled in the 1880's to service the pastoralists in the area. It now has a population of approximately 1500 in the town area. One of the tours to go on while at Fitzroy is a boat tour up the Geikie Gorge, conducted by the Dept. of Parks and Wildlife.
