Arrived Darwin area Wednesday and proceeded to Leon's ( Annette's brother) who lives at Corroboree which is about 90 klms south east of Darwin.
Spent the first day just relaxing and catching up with the latest family news.
On Thursday Leon took us up to Corroboree billabong and launched his boat in the water( 16 ft long with a 40 horse power Suzuki outboard which is good for croc spotting cause you can move away pretty quickly if they decide to investigate you).
We spent about 2 to 3 hours on the water and saw some lovely billabong views with large lilly pads and water lilly flowers.
Bird life was plentyfull with lots of Jabirus and White Bellied Sea eagles all looking for their own scource of food.
Apart from bird life saltwater crocs were everywhere, some on the bank sunning themselves, and plenty in the water and they are only the ones we saw.
A large female came crashing toward the water from up on the bank so we think that she had a nest somewhere nearby so we backed off and left to look after her nest.
The large ones we saw would would have to have been betweeen 3 and 4 meters long. Certainly not to be messed with. (pics in album section)
It was great to see these animals in the wild and not orientated to the tourist in anyway, because the billabong is not on the tourist trail.
Friday it was a trip into Darwin to have a look at the changes that have occurred over the last 40 odd years and catch up with some more relatives.
Today it's a clean and repack day and get ready to move out tomorrow and start the homeward bound journey.
Not long now before a boarder crossing into good old Queensland.
