Another early start this morning after a good night's sleep. We were up at 6.00 am and Lisanne joined us in Harvey for breakfast at 7.00 am. We started our day at Coober Pedy by walking to the Visitor Information Centre for a map. We met a nice guy there who gave us all sorts of useful information. During the morning we visited the Big Winch lookout, for a great view of Coober Pedy. Then we walked down the hill to look at an underground church, followed by the Comfort Inn Hotel, where the staff were very happy for us to wander through their hallways, and peek into the rooms. Here we are in Coober Pedy, South Australia, an opal mining town. We left Kulgera this morning at 8.00 am, but crossed into South Australia only 20 minutes later. There the time was one hour later, so suddenly it was 9.20 am. We lost an hour without realising it! The drive was long and uneventful (459 km). Tonight we are in Kulgera, Northern Territory. We had an early start this morning, on the road before 8.00 am. A drive of 364 km to Kulgera. Didn't see any wildlife on the road today, but did find a whole lot of galahs at a rest stop. Mirne re-filled their water container and they were very happy. Awake at the incredibly early hour of 5.00 am, we were off at 6.00 am. Today we planned to walk/hike the canyon rim at Kings Canyon. This walk/hike is 6 km of some steep uphill, some fairly steep downhill, but primarily walking on uneven rock surfaces.
