No real driving (except to Silverton), so we all got to have a lie in. Lisanne joined us for breakfast at 8.30 am. Our caravan park neighbours left this morning for SA (which has quarantine restrictions), so they left some paw paws behind (a tropical fruit from Queensland) which Lisanne ate for breakfast - she liked the paw paw although she'd never heard of them before!
Then Mirne and Lisanne drove up to Silverton, and old, mostly abandoned, mining town about 20 km north of Broken Hill. Along the way (and on the return) we saw some more wild horses (brumbies). Firstly, we had a look at the old cemetery, which had a lot of miners buried there. Interestingly, we came upon a fox which had made a nice home for itself by digging a big hole under one of the old gravestones. It wouldn't move, so we avoided it. We then visited the old gaol, which had been turned into a very interesting museum, and also the old school. Both were very interesting. We stopped at the pub to have a look. Also at two galleries, which had lovely pieces of art (which we didn't buy).
Then back to the caravan park, where we had nice cool dip in the pool.
Off into the town, for lunch at Alfresco's Cafe. Very delicious. Then a drive around town, before heading up the miner's memorial, which had a view of Broken Hill.
Stopped for a bit of shopping at the local supermarket, and then back to the caravan park again. Into the pool again to cool down.
Probably BBQ and salad for tea, and then maybe an early night.
Another hot day in Broken Hill today - it got to a maximum of 38 degrees.
We've got a long drive to Cobar, NSW, tomorrow.

Yvonne Jansen Beautiful pictures, especialy the sunset on Broken Hill. So it is very hot. I don't think Lisanne does mind, but nice to hear there's always a pool nereby.
