We left this morning at a reasonable time, and headed towards Port Macquarie. We'd read there were a few things to do there.
Our first stop was at the Billabong Wildlife & Koala Park. We were just in time for the first Koala talk. There were about 15 koalas (including one young one of about 12 months of age). Mirne was able to pat one, and Lisanne took photos! She did not want to touch one. After the Koalas we walked around and admired all the other animals (including an enormous saltwater crocodile - what a monster). We walked around for about an hour and a half and enjoyed viewing all the animals. On our way out we saw an Easter Water Dragon by the exit!
Then on to our next stop. That was Sea Acres National Park, where there was a 1.3 km boardwalk through a rainforest. At the start of the boardwalk there was a sign alerting us to sightings of landmullet, a monitor lizard and a diamond-back python that day. So off we went, looking for the wildlife (although Lisanne and Mirne were quite apprehensive about the python).
It was a beautiful walk, and the rainforest was gorgeous. We soon saw a landmullet, and we heard lots of birds, but didn't see anything else. Craig soon fell behind, and when he caught up, he told Mirne and Lisanne that he had seen a monitor lizard as well as a diamond-back python!
At the end of the walk we decided to have lunch at the rainforest cafe. Lovely to sit outside, under the rainforest canopy. A delicious meal.
Then off for a drive through Port Macquarie, which whilst not a very special town, had a spectacular coast-line.
Just over an hour's drive later, we were entering South West Rocks, which is where we are spending the night. Lisanne immediately spotted a group of kangaroos as we were entering the town.
The beach looks spectacular and we look forward to exploring it tomorrow.
We only drove 151 km today, but the weather was a lovely 27 degrees, and the rain stayed away until this evening.

Yvonne Beatuifull pictures. The scenery is very divers. You can see it's not that hot anymore. Good to know that Harvey is doing alright. And Lisanne is the one to spot the most animals. But Craig saw a python! At least he says he saw one ;-) Looking forward to read more!
