We had a car and driver at our disposal today so we did the rounds of the Yangon tourist highlights.
Started with Schwedagon pagoda which is impressive if you are into gold plating and Buddhist icons. Next was the reclining Buddha - if you get the opportunity give it a miss. The National Museum was next and we were forewarned by the LP guide so we started with low expectations. We didn't make the top two floors which contained the natural history and art exhibitions but repaired to the hotel for our sumptuous 3 course lunch. After a brief siesta we ventured forth to visit a few antique type shops and made a small purchase of a Burmese Marionette.
Dined at a restaurant near the hotel but Cheryl paid a midnight price for being too adventurous culinary-wise.
