re: WE GO OUR SEPARATE WAYSTony Brown SHOCKING is all I can say.
re: WE GO OUR SEPARATE WAYSTony Brown I like the way you inform. Great reading.
re: MAGNIFICENT CITY PALACE OF KARAULIMick Watts Ops. Need an edit: Add an 'e' to 'moral'. Do'h!
re: Over and OutMick Watts Hi Clive and Cheryl, Decided to have a late look in the hope that your moral had returned by the end of the trip ... seems not. However the photos are fantastic as always. We hope Rerk returns home soon as he could have prevented our recent drama in a local Thai restaurant where we order Chicken Surprise. After a long delay the waiter brought the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot. Just as the Janet was about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly saw two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down. She asked me to lift the lid and as I reached over the lid rises again before slaming down again. I called the waiter over and explained what happened. The waiter then asked me to confirm what we ordered?' I told him 'Chicken Surprise’! And to my surprise, he said 'Ah! So sorry, I bring you Peeking Duck'. I guess i should go quietly and sit in the naughty corner. We are looking forward to catching up.
re: Over and OutAnne Bates Your comments on the daggy tourists ring so true! Someone we know oh so well - hired a tuk tuk driver on arriving in Thailand (the islands) and when he told them his daily rate they upped the ante, not once, but twice!!! You have no chance - you're too intelligent by half!! Anne
re: Impressions of Chiang MaiTony & Rowena Glad to hear that you're still enjoying your Asian experience. Obviously the patisseries are too far apart for you to consider cycling exploits in SE Asia! It sounds like Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai have changed dramatically since our visit in December '82. Pity you couldn't take a photo of Madam at the Thai border crossing. Would've loved to see Cheryl in action shoudering aside the Chinese en masse. Hey, all that training's being put to good use! I go back to the specialist's on Wednesday and hopefully will be told that I can start walking (without airboot). I'm moving around with the airboot more easily now but it's slow going and frustrating. Still, my recovery is going along just as the doctor predicted so I guess that's positive. Tony's been walking around the village with his backpack (looking like a goose).
re: Driven to distraction!Louise The lacquering wouldn't do as a hobby for George then! I think you could probably write your own guide book. You still manage to find new things to see.
re: Bagan, MyanmarTed Warren Hey guys this is an awesome website but I am certainly not surprised knowing you two. I had no Idea you went to Myanmar. You went to all of the places we went to. We lived at a beautiful resort house inside the grounds of the Mandalay Hill Resort. We still have many friends there. We were there when things were really bad there but still enjoyed it. Happy you are enjoying your retirement. you guys are harder to keep up with then me. Have fun. Hope to see you soon
re: Back to the heatLaura Johnson Cheryl/Clive, glad Asia continues to NOT disappoint with unique sights and sounds, and of course economic disparity! Trust the weather is being kind to you - watch out for those 'small purchases' it all adds up! Rain at last in Sydney today, at least it missed Australia Day for a change - much needed though. Back from Bali last Thursday where the wet season treated us to some massive evening storms but at least gave us sunny, hot days. Back to work next week for both of us - ah, the joy!!!
re: We explore the French quarterTony Brown Very interesting. Good Luck.
re: Hanoi againRowena We saw a water puppet performance last time we we were in Hanoi 2011. Different atmosphere being undercover in a theatre. Remember our first encounter with water puppets? You (Cheryl) and Tony laughed so hard I thought you'd fall off the bench!
re: We explore the French quarterrita brown Hi Still having trouble to contact or how to send Just keep well and safe return
