Good flight on Malaysian Airlines to Yangon. As we had eaten Nasi Lemak yesterday on Air Asia it was a good opportunity to try it again today on Malaysian Air. The verdict - Air Asia by a nose. Yangon has a new international terminal and everything works smoothly. We were through quickly and whisked off to The Strand hotel. The Strand is a grand old colonial building which was established in 1901 by the Sarkies brothers of Raffles Singapore fame. Very nice. Off out quickly to explore Yangon and find the office of a travel agent that had arranged some flights and tours for us. Yangon is a bustly place with lots of decaying old colonial buildings. It has a certain charm and the pace is not too frantic as motor bikes are banned in the city (unlike most other Asian cities).
Dinner was included in our stay and, although we had fancied Burmese food to get us into the mood, we had to make do with a four course French repast - shame.
