We had a car and driver at our disposal today so we did the rounds of the Yangon tourist highlights. Started with Schwedagon pagoda which is impressive if you are into gold plating and Buddhist icons. Next was the reclining Buddha - if you get the opportunity give it a miss. Good flight on Malaysian Airlines to Yangon. As we had eaten Nasi Lemak yesterday on Air Asia it was a good opportunity to try it again today on Malaysian Air. The verdict - Air Asia by a nose. Yangon has a new international terminal and everything works smoothly. We were through quickly and whisked off to The Strand hotel. The Strand is a grand old colonial building which was established in 1901 by the Sarkies brothers of Raffles Singapore fame. Very nice. ...
