We woke up freezing, there were few stigma of ice hanging from the ceiling and to be frank I am very shocked we hadn't freeze to death in our sleep but tragically, someone didn't survived the harsh conditions. To be more specific, SOMETHING bit the dust and it was the engine battery.
We flagged down a lorry driver who tried to help us to start up the motorhome but after a succession of failed attempts he had to leave to meet a delivery deadline. So we were trapped in the middle of nowhere. A classic horror flick scenario. With this in my mind, I gamely made my way towards to the nearest house hoping reverently that house is not a home of Texas Chainsaw Massacre killer or should I say Cromwell Chainsaw Massacre? It turned out that house were undergoing a spot of renovation so no one were in. In face of my failure to establish the human contact, Ashley and Dom decided to risk their necks and approached a motorhome parked few metres away....Luckily for us, it houses a French family who a) speak English and b) is not a family of cannibals.
They were kind-hearted enough to ignore the traditional Anglo Saxon rivalry and extend a helping hand. They even went to the nearest garage to buy jump leads which revived our battery into life. After refusing payment, they settled for the free chocolate I got from the chocolate factory. We were on our way.
It wasn't long enough until we reached Queenstown but we had to make a stop at Britz approved garage to fix our waste pipe and the faulty latch for Sara and my bed. We went off to explore Queenstown. It was a cosy town with Canadian buildings. The majority of the population were adrenaline junkies beanie wearing teens in baggy trousers. This is because a fearsome skiing mountain was a half hour drive away. We went to the information centre to find more about how to ski in Mountain Caradona as the Kendalls and Dom are keen skiers. We eventually decided to book it in Wanaka because it's nearer. After picking up motorhome with waste pipe not fixed due to the garage not having the part that we needed. We explored Queenstown. We found an internet cafe with cool 20 inch pizzas and we also booked tickets for the ferry crossing.
We settled for the night in a petrol station after a kind attendant allowed us to park there for night.
