After Chinatown we went on a guided tour of the city. It was a double-decker bus just for us. It was brightly painted as well. We got lots of looks from people because we were in a huge bright bus, with an English speaking tour guide, all of us were sitting on the top level, and we were a large group of people color.
Our tour guide was endearing. He tried so so hard and still got some of the colloquial translations incorrect. We saw many of the things Donato showed us, like the plaza, the oldest cathedral, etc, and then we went to a place close to the ocean. We got to get out and walk around a bit. There was a church that had been destroyed by an earthquake and is now left without repairs. It's become home to hundreds of vultures who chill on the exposed timbers in the roof.
We got to see a little village type community with bars and restaurants on a river that leads out to the ocean. We followed a walking path to a cliff overlooking the coast and there was a pagoda with musicians jamming. It was quite storybook.
Renata and Donato had gone to pay the bills while we were on this tour. They met up with us and we hurried back to our van in order to go meet Pa Amador.
