Clocks went back so an early start saw us leave with the sunrise and head off to the lakes area. Again, glorious weather and a lovely drive stopping off at a farm shop for a few more sundries. Chatted with the owner about the seriously expensive Manuka honey (£110 for a very small jar) so opted for the £3 jar instead!
Arrived at lake Tekapo which is bluer than blue in the sunshine and thought it would be a good idea to walk up to the observatory to see a simply stunning view (but very steep climb). Any lovers of Lord of the Rings will recognise the plains of Rohan (I'm a nerd). Decided not to linger after that as the noise of the jet skis detracted from the beauty a bit.
Arrived at our wilderness camping spot with the view of Mount Cook attached to this blog. It is simply stunning - we are very fortunate to see it in this weather & hopefully will provide a backdrop for our barbecue and star gazing tonight.
