April's Travels
We arrived at Chichen Itsa on Tuesday 7th March. We went straight to Piste which is next to the ruins to stay the night. On the Tuesday we found a big restaurant where they do buffets for all the people going there on tours and i had really fancied mashed potato over the last couple of days. Would you believe it the buffet did mashed potato, as well as rice, chicken, fish, nachos, tortillas and loads of fruit and jello pots!! It was lush. Nice to have a bit of english type food as we've had loads and loads of Mexican.
I think we looked like a safe bet Becky and I turning up at the buffet so they gave us a discount. Three platefulls later we pretty much got our money's worth!! We did the same the next day tee hee.
That Tues night we went to the light and sound show, it was all in Spanish so a bit tough!!
The next day (Mum's birthday) we got up really early and went to the ruins. We were umming and ahhing loads about whether to climb it or not. You can usually climb it but it's a sheer drop with only a rope running up the middle to hold on to!!
When we got there you weren't allowed to climb it, so our minds were made up for us. A women had died 6 weeks earlier as she'd fallen off, eek again.
We walked around for a couple of hours, we were nice and early so we weren't bull dozed by 700 Americans!! When we were walking around the ruins i heard a scuttling and there were two massive lizards!! There is a picture of one, i didn't catch the BIGGER one in time as he ran under some stones, but think Jurassic park ok!!
After that, back to the buffet again!! yum
