I can say I was quite happy to leave Adelaide and move on, frankly the city was boring and Laura and I were glad it was a short stop. Even the girl on the reception desk commented on the lack of anything. Before our flight we visited a mall that was one of the top attractions...it was just a mall. Moving on to Melbourne was exciting, one of the two main citys of Australia. A far cry from the smaller cities with less of the country bumkin feel.
The flight was uneventful and we landed in Melbourne with no issues and we proceeded to our hotel. Reading this now it comes to mind we may seem a little boring. But with spending so long in Australia and with limited resources we don't have to cram everything in. A lot of the time we simply like walking, taking in the sites, enjoying the markets and each others company. This doesn't make for wonderful reading but it's the truth!
The interesting part of the day really starts after dinner, which was in a mall at a burger joint called Grill'd, after drinking and dining we proceeded to the mall toilets. Being a man I finished first and while waiting for Laura I could hear someone repeatedly saying 'HELLO' from the disabled toilets. Deciding this man may need assitance I went to find a security guard, failing this I told the nearest restaurant owner thinking foolishly he might have some contact with them. I was promtly told 'not my issue' so not knowing what to do Laura opened the door where a disabled man seemed to be having issues after dropping his bag. I helped him (disgustingly the bag was for his pee pot) and he asked to be wheeled out. So no problem, I wheeled him out where he asks if I could call a lift and put him in it. No problem, I put him in the lift and he asks me to take him downstairs. Thinking he might get stuck in the door I take him down leaving Laura upstairs. After this he proceeds to tell me he has no idea where he is (as if I do after 7 hours in the city). He is now becoming more demanding and wants a taxi and in an effort to help him I wheel him out of the mall. He now wants to be taken further and further and is starting to moan and get annoyed with me, as I had told him I needed to get back to my partner. In the end I left the ungrateful man at the taxi rank and ran the 20 minute walk back to where Laura was standing, stressed and worried! He clearly had the power to push himself as he had gotten to the mall somehow and his rudeness and ungratefulness very much annoyed me. I felt sorry for him and really wanted to help as much as I could, but I think he took advantage of my kindness. Lesson 1 don't help people from Melbourne (too much).
