- 15 hour bus journey departing from surfers paradise, numb bums and not alot of sleep had,....but we got to see our first DVD's!!
-Into sydney we went over harbour bridge and saw the opera house. After a few stretches we went into central station and we got the bus over to our hostel in Kings cross. Got off at kings cross and headed upto our hostel. On our way we saw a few strip clubs and adult shops and then knew we was in the "soho" of australia but not as bad. Into our hostel bags down and a quick look round the place. We headed out with a group from our hostel for a 5 dollar steak and beer. We joined up with the group and got a 3 free drinks and I tried to get a game going.....but the language barrier kicked in, and D was winding me up about the fact that the gay guy winked at me when he went outside for ciggeratte. With that in mind me and D downed a jagger bomb and we headed off to find an rnb nightclub.....after 45 minutes of looking we found 1!! Into the star Bar and a few more drinks were had, and we hit the "dancefloor". After being there for 5 minutes I had to move a South African guy away from D, who then stated that I should allow him to dance with D (who was holding onto my jacket from behind) and that in South Africa him and his friends "share" dances with girls. After reminding him that 1. We ain't in South Africa 2. I wasn't his friend and 3. it doesn't look like she's in a rush to dance with you and then D tellin' him no he left. We stayed for a few more drinks and then headed for a taxi or so we thought. After walking for 15 minutes trying to flag down a taxi and watching other people succeed, I got D to try, low and behold she got 1 and I followed in much to the indian taxi drivers suprise. After explaining to him the comotion of trying to get a taxi he then explained that "oh, I don't stop for black people because they don't pay". An actioned packed day with some mixed views of sydney!!
- Waking up a little late and D suffering with a headache will chilled at the hostel for most of the day, and had a little wonder round kings cross. Decided to head off to the harbour and take in the sights at night. Had dinner at a nice little restaurant by the port, pizza and pasta. Saw a street act and got roped in to helping out with the act, which included chainsaw juggling, knife juggling on a bmx over the top of us. Took a few photos at night and had a good night out chilling.
- Sunday, nothing much to do round here on a sunday. Had a look round kings cross again and just headed into the city and took in a few more sights, and looked at a few more shopping centres. Got in a bit of sleep as we were off for a bit more sight seeing in the morning.
- up nice and early (10am) got showered and headed off to look round the harbour bridge area during the day and grab a few photo ops. As we headed into the harbour area we soon learned that we left the camera back at the hostel, and wouldn't be able to take any photo's. D got a subway and I picked up another boost (my new fav drink). And we sorted out what were going to do for the day. We had a walk round again, and looked to see if there where any galleries on...there wasn't. I then found out that there was a massive rugby league game on at the ANZ arena on the wednesday so we headed off to pick up a ticket in the city centre. After picking up the ticket I picked up some kangaroo for dinner. Nice early sleep and up early tomoz for the opera house.
-Up early this time grabbed our free breakfast, sorted out our washing, shopping and had lunch and headed off to the opera House. After a nice train ride we arrived near the station. Nice little walk and the opera house appeared on us and it was time to grab a few pics. After doing the run up the stairs and recovering our breath we had a look round and took in the views from all areas of the compass. Some excelent views and we headed off for a walk to the government house. Unfortunatley it was near it's closing time and we only got the 1 pic and saw a bit of the grounds. Old style english building. Time for another walk back into the city centre, where more window shopping was done. Back to the hostel for a bit of dinner, and another chilled night.
- Had a sleep in, we swear it's the room havn't felt this tired in a long time. I was off to the big game tonight so we pretty much chilled and replied to all the emails we'd got whilst having another trounce round sydney. Whilst walking down kings cross back to the hostel we realised that were a few familiar faces all the time that stood out, 1.The 50 year old prostitute who had 2 outfits inc a yellow bomber jacket. 2. The young girl tramp with a knife gash on her face. 3. The woman/ Perry (from kev n perry) look-a-like. 4. The crazy abarigny woman who they all seemed to be scared of., anyways time for me to head to the ANZ stadium whilst D decided not to come and stay at the hostel. The game was a state of origin match between new south wales and queensland which is a pretty big deal over here. Arrived at the stadium and was pretty impressed by the stadium, transport and entertainment (wembley take note). After a few more pics and some convo with some randoms about the game it was time to grab my seat. 2 minutes into the game and a fight errupted on the pitch, a good start. Expecting a big atmosphere I was treated to the 1 and only chant new.south wales, That was all they had, nothing else...felt a little dissapointed as the chant faded one of the players broke there arm and calmly walked off the pitch . Into the 2nd half with new south wales leading and someone had gone and got the beach ball out which distracted everyone from the game for a good 10 minutes. Back to the game and another fight kicked off which seemed to get the crowd going. End of the game and Queensland had nicked it by 12 points or something like that, time tio run for the train!!
-Up early again (12pm) seriously don't no whats wrong with us here!! we headed over to the olympic park to have a look round at the stadiums. Purchased a stadium tour for myself, and then D was alowed to come for free as I was the only 1 on the tour! Got shown round the ANZ stadium I was at last night and got told all the imfo about how it was built and how it cost 80% less than wembley etc. Whilst there we got to see the sydney eagles train, there an Aussie rules team. Which was good. Stadium seemed a little ery when it's empty though. After the tour we headed into the centre again to pick up some tickets to hancock at the cinema tonight.
- Up early as we had to change rooms and then D wanted to go shopping for shoes ( always fun for the guy). After 2 hours shopping we headed for something to eat, and then headed back to the hostel as D had to be back early as she as getting her hair did. Walked D to the hairdressers where on the way we witnessed the crazy abariginy and Perry assaulted a guy in a phone booth armed with a 4x4 piece of wood, different. D was to get her hair couloured back to blonde and have a new style haircut. 2 hours later I came back to walk D back to the hostel and it still wasn't done. Another hour later and it was done, looking alot different but definatley suiting her better we walked back to the hostel with a massive smile on D's face. Showered up we headed to the gaff for our steak and free drinks, and then headed off clubbing where more drinks were downed, and a few dance steps came out. A good night out, and alot of walking to find the next nightclub, where D was refused entry as we had got wristbands for free entry off another group of ppl and were told to stick them together with our chewing gum!! D then grabbed a taxi ( after learning from last time) and we headed back to our hostel.
- D waking up feeling "dizzy", it was already 2pm!!! after a late start we showered up and headed into china town for the night via the bus as the trains wern't working. After a good meal of duck pancakes we strolled round sydney central and headed back to the hostel to chill and watcha couple of films as we had to be out of our room by 10am.
- Up and out early we showered and headed off to the harbour to get some pics after we missed out last time leaving our camera behind, whilst leaving our bags in storage as we were off to melbourne at 8pm on our last 12 hour greyhound ride. Walking through china town again we headed to paddy's market where I snapped up aan ed hardy hat. With all that shopping done it was time for lunch. Headed to the harbour walk where it was time for the pic opps, many taken and we made use of the zoom capabilities for some random photos. Time to head back and sort out our bags for the trip, and it was then time to go and catch the last greyhound.....emotional!!
