Last Saturday night we decided to treat ourselves to a night out before we left Koh Tao. What was meant to be a nice meal and a few drinks, turned out to be a 2o'clocker and we got stuck into the vodka redbulls. During the evening, we had agreed to leave for Koh Phangan the next day, after over hearing that most people had the same idea as us, to go to the full moon party the following week. I got the idea into my head that there was a 10.45am boat, so we rushed around packing our bags, changing currency etc... only to find out that we'd missed the 10am boat and the next one wasn't till 3. We stayed around the resort until then, but i was feeling a little more than hungover and couldn't shake off feeling sick. The sun was blaring and I was not looking forward to the open car journey or boat trip. It was a long day and lucky for me, we managed to get the same room that we'd had before at Yoghurt home 3, so we settled straight back in. Turned out that I was a little ill and spent the rest of the day in bed with a tummy bug...
The next day I felt much better and was ready to carry on topping up the tan so we chilled for a few days. We had agreed a while ago that we both wanted to do a trip to 'Ang Thong marine park', so we booked it and went Wednesday. It was an earlier start than we're used to these days and we were picked up at 8.20. The weather wasn't as good as it had been and the sky was pretty cloudy with a bit of wind, so the speed boat trip was a little 'choppy' which I was obviously loving (and another girl on the boat was sea sick from about ten minutes into it) - NOT...! but we got there in one piece and it was worth it.
First we went to one island and got off to go snorkelling and saw a blue spotted ray. There were schools of fish everywhere, which I was told wouldn't bite and then I got a little nip to the stomach and realised one of them had tried to bite off a mole! Think he thought it was a chocolate button! lol... We spent about an hour swimming around and I'm really loving snorkelling and Ant took some great pictures.
Then we got back onto the boat and went to another island for lunch. It was really beautiful there and lunch was a nice mixture of Thai foods and fresh fruit - yum yum!
After lunch they took us past a few rocks one which was looked like a monkey praying and the other was a thinking lion, on our way to go Kayaking. That was also good fun and good to do something energetic for a change.
The last part of the trip was the 'Emerald Lake' which was a beautiful lagoon inside one of the islands. It was quite a walk to go to it, up man made little bridges and through marble rocks. On our way in, a guy said 'watch out for the spiders' and I said very quickly 'what spiders?', he said 'oh the jumping ones'... for a second, I stopped and thought he was being serious, till he and all his friends burst out laughing... hilarious - for them!! lol... When we got to the top eventually, it was worth it and the view was amazing. Apparently one of the shots used in the film the Beach..!
So that was our day out. We both had a great day, which went really fast but was worth it. We are now just hanging around our bungalow enjoying the sun and preparing for the full moon party on Sunday. The place is much busier each day and people are pouring in so should be another good party.
We plan to leave here next Wednesday and make our way to Krabi. We were going to get a flight but decided that it would be cheaper and more fun to boat/ bus/ train it there instead, so that should be a nice little adventure ;o)
