As we are making a whistle stop tour of Singapore we hopped in a tax fgrom the airport straight to our hotel, had a quick shower then back out to head to the Singapore Zoo as we had been told it was well worth a visit. We werent dissappointed.... Lions, Tigers, Elephants, Giraffe's, Zebra, Mountain Goats, snakes, monitor lizards top name but a few! We over 2 hours wondering around and could easily have spent another couple of hours but closing time was drawing near. Time to stop for dinner right next to the day zoo in the 'night safari'. A park built so that you can safely view the nocturnal animals where we climbed aboard an open sided bus and enjoyed a leaisurly drive at dusk through various enclosures. Not quite as great as we had hoped but we had a really good evening and even saw a new animal neither of us had even heard of before... The 'mouse deer'. It looks like an over grown mouse on long scrawny legs. It didn't actually look real until it startted to move! By the end of the 1st day we were knackered so a taxi back to the hotel for a good nights sleep before our adventure tomorrow!
Not exactly an early start but we got up and went for a wonder to find the Singapore airlines hopper bus that gave us a very cheap way of touring the city and getting to Santosa Island. Unfortunatley we misread the timetable and got on a bus that didnt go to Santosa so we decided to hop off and take a walk to the island, it only looked about a 45minute walk.... 2 hours later we found out you cant walk to the island. After getting down to the entrance for cars we were told we had to go back and pay to get the skytrain over to the island. When we eventually made it there we were loved it. They had a dolphin show, aquarium, movie world, where we put on our 3D glasses and watched a pirate film with a rip off of Jack Sparrow then over to another area where we had a 3D roller coaster log ride, awesome! Shame wendy missed most of it as she had our eyes shut! Defintitely a stop over we would recommend to anyone heading to this side of the world.
Our final day we decided we would get up early and go and check out the shopping. We were up and out the hotel after having our breakfast by 9am. What we didnt realise was that the big shopping centres dont actually open until around 11am... Gutted as we needed to be checked out by 12. We found a few shops that were open and ducked into a shopping mall on our way back to the hotel. They are massive, definitely makes any malls i've seen before look tiny! 8 or 9 floors of shopping!
